Mrs. de Albuquerque was born in Taubate, Brazil, on February 4, 1885.
Georgina de Albuquerque began her artistic studies in her hometown, Taubaté, with the Italian painter Rosalbino Santoro in 1900. In 1904, she moved to Rio de Janeiro and began studying at the Escola Nacional de Belas Artes (National School of Fine Arts), where she studied under the guidance of Henrique Bernardelli. At school, de Albuquerque met the painter Lucílio de Albuquerque, her future husband. When in Lucílio obtained the ENBA's "Travel Award" in 1906, the couple moved to France and stayed there for the next five years. In Paris, Georgina de Albuquerque was the first Brazilian to enter the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts, where she was an apprentice of Paul Gervais and Adolphe Déchenaud. She also studied, like many Brazilians, at the Académie Julian, where she worked with Henri Royer.
In 1911 de Albuquerque presented her works in São Paulo. Since then she started to participate regularly in the General Exhibition of Fine Arts. In 1927 she was appointed professor at the Escola Nacional de Belas Artes in Rio de Janeiro, where she taught artistic design until 1948. Starting from 1935 she began teaching a course in decorative arts at the Institute of Arts of the University of the Federal District.
After the death of рук husband, Lucílio, in 1939, Georgina de Albuquerque established the Museu Lucílio de Albuquerque at her home in the neighbourhood of Laranjeiras the following year. Concurrently, she ran a pioneering course in drawing and painting for children. From 1952 to 1954 de Albuquerque held the position of a director at the Escola Nacional de Belas Artes.

Georgina de Albuquerque met her future husband, Lucílio de Albuquerque, for the first time while studying at the School of Fine Arts. They both had lessons with the same teacher, Henrique Bernardelli, and got closer and closer. What once was an artistic bond soon became a sincere friendship, which later turned into love and in 1906 into a marriage.
