After February Revol, while an ensign in the Russian Army, joined Military Organization(s), Central Committee, Russian Social-Democratic Workers ’Party (Bolsheviks). On eve of October Coup sent by Bolsheviks to Peter and Paul Fortress as its comissar. 25 October 1917 the guns of the fortress opened fire on the Winter Palace on his orders.
After coup appointed commandant, Peter and Paul Fortress. Member, All-Russian Central Executive Committee of 1917 convocation. 1918 member, Military Council, Eastern Front.
October 1918-1931 worked for All-Russian Extraordinary Commission Against Counterrevolution, Sabotage and Speculation, State Polit Board and Joint State Political Administration. 1931-1934 Deputy People's Commissar of Means of Communication. Arrested by State Security organs.
