1898— 1909 intern, 1909-1911 assistant professor, Clinic of Children’s Diseases, Moscow University. 1907 — 10 physician, Department for New-Born Babies, Abrikosova Maternity Home, where he established a childcare advice section. 1910 founded first medical establishment in Moscow combining a polyclinic, advice-center and milk-kitchen for babies.
From 1912 founder-ed, periodical “Materialy po izucheniyu grudnogo vozrasta”. 1915-1918 assistant professor, Children’s Clinic, Moscow Higher Women's Courses. 1918 — 19 worked at Professor V. V. Voronin’s Laboratory.
1919-1920 founder-head, Chair of Children’s Diseases, Kuban’ University, Krasnodar. 1921-1922 founderdir, Moscow Child Welfare Home. 1922 founded periodical “Zhurnal po izucheniyu rannego detskogo vozrasta”.
From 1922 ed, journal “Pediatriya”. 1922-1930 director, 1930-1948 sci director, Centr Institute of Child and Mother Care (now Institute of Pediatrics, Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics Academy of Medical Sciences). 1931-1961 head, Chair of Infant Pediatrics, Centr Institute of Postgraduate Medical Training.
1948-1951 director, 1951-1969 senior associate and consultant, Institute of Pediatrics, Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics Academy of Medical Sciences. From 1952 member, Home-Care Committee, International Child Welfare Conference. From 1959 member, Pediatrics Prize Committee, Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics Academy of Medical Sciences.
Did research on acute and chronic nutritional and digestive diseases and acute gastro-intestinal diseases in infants. Also studied the pathology of older children with special reference to rheumatism. Tested various therapeutic drugs to determine efficacy and dosage in relation to age.
Wrote over 160 works.
