BEILBY, Georgre Thomas was born on November 17, 1850. Son of G. T. Beilby, Doctor of Medicine, of Edinburgh.

Education

Studied at private schools. University of Edinburgh. Inventor of processes which are in use in several departments of industry, 1880-1905.

Specially studied fm 1 economy and smoke prevention in connection with the coal consumption of Great Britain, and reported to the Royal Commission on Coal Supplies, 1903. Doctor of Laws Glasgow.

Career

President of Society of Chemical Industry, 1899. Of Chemical Section of British Association at South African Meeting, 1905. And of Institute of Chemistry, 1909.

Chairman of Glasgow and West of Scotland Technical College. Has devoted much time to chemical and microscopical research. Justice of the Peace, Associate of Institute of Civil Engineers; Scientific Director of Chemical Works in Great Britain and abroad.
