Career
President of Central Board of Health, 1900-1903. First Chairman Technical School Board, Launceston. Member of the firm of Douglas & Collins, Barristers and Solicitors, Launceston. Member for Tamar since 1895; barrister, etc., of the Supreme Court of Tasmania; Chief Secretary and Minister of Agriculture, Tasmania, 1899 -1903; also Minister of Defence prior to Federation, in Sir N. E. Lewis’ Ministry, 1899-1903; Colonel, Volunteer Officers' Decoration (reserve); late Commanding Ollicer Launceston Artillery, and late Senior Commanding Officer, Northern Division of Tasmania; for twenty years Chairman of the Launceston General Hospital Board of Management.
