In 1923, Georgy Odintsov graduated from the Artillery College of Krasnodarsk . In 1927, he graduated from the Kiev United School of Red Army Officers. In 1934, he finished studying at the War Artillery College (now Military Academy of the Strategic Missile Forces named after Peter the Great).
Georgy Fedotovich served in command billets in artillery. After graduating from the War Artillery Academy now Military Academy of the Strategic Missile Forces named after Peter the Great) in 1934, he stayed there to work as a lecturer (till 1939). While working there, Georgy carried out different kinds of research works and wrote research papers.
When the Great Patriotic War broke out, Georgy served as the artillery commander. In 1941, at the beginning of the warfare, he made a good showing and was appointed as the commanding officer of the Luga Operational Group. That year, he became the commanding officer of the 54th Army. In December 1941 - January 1942, Georgy Fedotovich was also the artillery staff commander. In January 1942, he was appointed as the artillery commander of the Leningrad Front. In 1945-1947, Georgy Fedotovich was the artillery commander of the Leningrad Military District. In 1947-1953, he was the commander of artillery troops of the Far East. In 1953-1969, Georgy served as the chief of the Dzerzhinsk Academy of Artillery. In 1971, Georgy became the weapons inspector of the Group of General Inspectors of The Minister of Defence of the Soviet Union.
