Career

Browne's first novel, It's All Zoo, was written while he was living in Paris and working as a fashion photographer. It was published while Browne was working as an executive for a New York advertising agency. Since the early 1970s, Gerald A. Browne has created a niche for himself with a string of best-selling romantic thrillers in which precious stones - and the questionable activity that often surrounds them - play a central role. Many commentators have found Browne’s novels to be successes within their genre, citing the author’s ability to combine suspenseful and action-packed plots, well-drawn characters, romance, and humor. Reviewers also often acknowledge the research, not only into gems, but also into such areas as security systems, food, wine, and location, that undergird each of the novels.
