ARBUTHNOT, Gerald Archibald was born on December 19, 1872. Son of late Major-General William Arbuthnot, 14th Hussars, and Selina, 7th daughter of Sir Thomas Moncreifle, 7th Baronet, of Moncreifle.

Career

Left Navy, 1892; Private Secretary to Right Honourable Walter'H. Long, Member of Parliament, 1894. Served in that capacity during Unionist governments of 1895 and 1900 at the Board of Agriculture, Local Government Board, and Irish Office. Contested Burnley, 1906.

Vice-Chairman Budget Protest League, 1909. Member of Parliament (Unionist) Burnley since 1910.
