1898-1904 worked at Skin and Venerological Clinic, Moscow University. 1904 defended doctor’s thesis, a now classical work on progressive idiopathic atrophy of the skin and its relation to scleroderma in which he proved that both diseases are variants of the same dermatosis. 1908-1920 associate professor, 1920-1925 head, Chair of Skin and Venereal Diseases, 2nd Moscow University.
1917-1919 member, Anti-Venereal Commission. From 1923 member, all Soviet dermatological and venerological society 1925-1936 head, Chair of Skin and Venereal Diseases, 1st Moscow University (how 1st Moscow Medical Institute).
Did research on gonorrheal sores, the treatment of syphilis, early renal syphilis, syphilitic reinfection and superinfection, congenital syphilis, inguinal lymphogranulomatosis, et cetera Devised a classification of leucoderms and herpies. Developed a number of treatments for skin diseases.
Company-founder, State Venerological Institute. From 1926 chairman, Congenital Syphilis Commission. Member, organisation bureau of three All-Union Venerological Congresses.
From 1930 chairman, Moscow Dermatological and Venerological Social. Member, editorial board, journal “Russkiy vestnik dermatologii,” “Moskovskiy meditsinskiy zhumal,” “Tsentral’nyy meditsinskiy zhumal” and “Russkaya klinika”. Company-ed, Bolshaya meditsinskay entsiklopediya (Large Medical Encyclopedia) (1st ed).
Supervised the translation of for medical manuals into Russian. Wrote over 150 works, some of which were published abroad.
