Superintendent Kahului Railway Company, Maui, 1884-1896, president, 1896-1898. President Estate South. G. Wilder, Limited., since 1898. Retired from active business to devote time to horticulture, 1898.

United States deputy protector H.I. Bird Reservation, since 1918.

Associate in botany Bernice P. Bishop Museum, Honolulu, 1924, and made 4 botanical expeditions to South Seas, West Indies, Ceylon, et cetera, introducing into Hawaii from these countries many tropical trees, plants, et cetera
