Today he lives and works in the village Dünserberg. Since 1976 he made sketches and sculptures, mainly in bronze, but also in steel, raku and various other materials. Between 1985 and 1997 Mayer performed themspecific art studies in North and South America, Asia, and Europe.
Since 2005 he conduct seminars at the Academy Stift Geras and Art Factory Vienna.
