Fehr earned a degree from the Art & Craft Shop in Munich, Germany, and also studied at Atelier Wasow in Munich.
Since 1960 Fehr has been a freelance photographer. Previously, she was headmaster of photography at Art & Craft School in Vevey, Switzerland (1945-60), and at School of Photography Fehr in Lausanne, Switzerland (1940-45), and head manager of Publiphot School, Photography and Applied Photography, in Paris (1933- 37). She operated Studio G. Fehr in Munich from 1918 to 1932, specializing in portraiture and theater photography. She has also experimented with solarization and montage.
