Ghulāmḥ̣usayn was responsible for bombing the headquarters of the American firm ATT in Tehran. He has a brother, Īraj Ṣifātī-Dizfūlī (b 1940), who represented the city of Abadan in the Iranian Parliament 1980-1984 and 1996-2000.

He was a member of the Mujahedin-e Khalq during the Pahlavi era, before leaving the group in order to join the more radical anti-capitalist group “Manṣūrān,” which targeted the foreign owned oil industry and assassinated Iranian and foreign businessmen. Other members of Manṣūrān were Mohsen Rezai and Ali Shamkhani.
