Ghulam Murtaza Khan Jatoi, is a Pakistani politician, businessman, nationalist, and a prominent Sindhi conservative figure.
Background
In addition, he is the central figure of Pakistan Muslim League (North) in Sindh and a son of veteran politician Ghulam Mustafa Jatoi. Ghulam Murtaza Jatoi was born on 14 September 1958 to an extremely influential political family. His father Ghulam Mustafa Jatoi was one of founding members of the Pakistan Peoples Party in 1967.
Education
Ghulam Murtaza Jatoi was educated at the Grand Folks School in Naushahro Feroze and graduated from the Saint Patrick"s College in Karachi, Sindh.
Career
He is the current Minister for Industries and Production appointed on 7 June 2013 by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. He ran for the Parliament of Pakistan in General elections of 2008 and 2013 from Constituency NA-211 on National Peoples Party ticket, winning both times. He also served as Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis in 1993.
He held the office of Adviser to Chief Minister of Sindh on Agriculture from 2004 to 2007.
After winning 2013 General Elections he was given the portfolio of Federal Minister for Industries & Production in Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif"s cabinet. He was the President of National Peoples Party before it was merged with PML-North.
Membership
He was elected as Chairman District Council, Nawab Shah in 1979 and Member of Provincial Assembly of Sindh from 1988-1990 where he served as Minister for Local Government. He was elected as Member of National Assembly in 1990 and served as Federal Minister for Communications from 1990 to 1992. He was again elected as member of Sindh Assembly in 1997 and served as Minister for Irrigation.
