Education
He moved with his family to Naples in 1952, where he graduated as appliances, electronics, after graduation, he moved to Rome, where he studied acting at the National Academy of Dramatic Art Silvio D'Amico. In Rome, he made his debut in the theater at the age of 18 years, in memory of friend of Joseph patron Griffi, near Lilla Brignone. He made his film debut in 1965.
Career
During his career, he has played a number of characters, often different from each other. Especially early in his career, he was very active in television, as a brilliant actor (together with Mina), singer and dancer.
In 1977 he was nominated for an Oscar for Best Actor for his role in Seven Beauties by Lina Wertmuller.
In 2009, Giannini received a star on the Italian Walk of Fame in Toronto, Canada.
