Bachelor of Arts, Hampden-Sydney College, 1887. Bachelor of Divinity, Union Theological Seminary, Virginia, 1893. Doctor of Divinity, Presbyterian College of South Carolina.

Career

Ordained ministry Presbyterian Church in the United States, 1893. Pastor successively Academy, Ottewood and Leesville chs., Virginia, Greene Street Church, Augusta, Georgia, First Church, Rome, Georgia, until 1919, Charles Town, West Virginia, 1919-1941, pastor emeritus since January 1, 1941. Moderator of the Synod of Georgia, 1910.

Moderator Synod of Virginia, 1940. Instructor church music, Union Theological Seminary, Richmond, Virginia, 1920-1925, special lecturer on Great Hymns of the Church, 1926. While pastor at Rome conducted funeral services of Mistress Woodrow Wilson, formerly a member of the church.

Member of committee which prepared and published The Presbyterian Hymnal, 1927.
