The above statement serves to illustrate one or two im portant points. It shows, in the first place, that Typhoid fever is the most constant, the most prevalent, and the most important disease among our operatives. That from this cause, more deaths occur, than from all other maladies com ing under Hospital treatment. I think, too, it will appear that the disease is less fatal, and of shorter duration, than is generally supposed. Again, comparing the cases given in the above table, with similar cases treated elsewhere, it will appear that the results are remarkably favorable.
