Ginko Ogino worked her way through the two schools. Through the good offices of Tadanari Ishiguro, she was enabled in 1885 to apply for the government examination for medical practice although she was a woman. Passed the examination and became Japan's first officially recognized woman physician. Began to practice at Yushima, Tokyo the same year.
Ginko Ogino married at the age of 16 for the first time. She married again to a pastor.
