For several years he was a director of Bologna Conservatory. Then he devoted himself to completing the great ‘‘ Dizionario artistico-scientifico-storico-technologico- musicale” begun by A. Barbieri. He also wrote a treatise on harmony, and another on instrumentation and orchestration. He composed instrumental and sacred music.
