He studied under Benvenuto da Garofalo.
Under Pope Paul III he directed the architectural work on the pontifical palaces. As a painter he shows the influence of Correggio, many of the copies of that master which he made passing as originals.
Examples of his works are the St. George and the St. Jerome at Ferrara and the Descent of the Holy Spirit in the church of St. Francis, Rovigo.
