Career
Hines played collegiately for the University of Arkansas and was drafted by the NFL"s Saint Louis Cardinals and the American Football League"s Houston Oilers in 1965. In 1966, he signed with the Oilers and played for them until 1969 in the American Federation of Labor-Congress, and in 1970 in the NFL. He played the 1971 and 1972 seasons with the New Orleans Saints, and retired after his final season with the Pittsburgh Steelers in 1973. He was an American Federation of Labor-Congress All-Star game selection in 1968 and 1969.
From his first season in 1966 through his final season in 1973, Hines played in 115 consecutive games, including three playoff games.
Hines was a consensus All-American in 1965, and was selected to the Southwest Conference All-Time Team in 1996.
