He was selected by the Edmonton Oilers in the 5th round (148th overall) of the 2002 National Hockey League Entry Draft. In his freshman and sophomore years, Fisher helped the Pioneers reach the National Collegiate Athletic Association Frozen Four tournament, and in both seasons the Pioneers claimed the National Collegiate Athletic Association Championship. In his senior year Fisher went 13-9-2 with a 2.32 goals against average and 0.919 save percentage.
On May 5, 2007, the Edmonton Oilers signed Fisher to a one-year entry level contract, but he did not play in the National Hockey League.
