Glenn Patterson is a British writer, best known as a novelist.

Background

Glenn Patterson was born on August 9, 1961 in Belfast, United Kingdom. Son of Phares and Agnes (Murphy) Patterson.

Education

Patterson attended Methodist College Belfast. He graduated from the University of East Anglia with a Bachelor of Arts in 1985 and a Master of Arts in 1986.

Career

Patterson has written plays for Radio 3 and Radio 4, and co-wrote with Colin Carberry the screenplay of the 2013 film "Good Vibrations".

He has also been a writer in residence at the University of East Anglia and the University College Cork, and is currently a tutor in creative writing at Queen's University Belfast.

Achievements

  • Patterson has received, among others awards, the Rooney Prize for Irish Literature in 1988 and the Betty Trask Award in 1988 for "Burning Your Own".

Membership

He has been a member of the Society of Authors.
