He ascended the Throne in 1526. Because the Imperial Court was in dire poverty, it was ten years after his ascension that it could celebrate it with due ceremony, thanks to monetary contributions made by Lords Ouchi, Hojo,Imagawa and Asakura. He reigned for 31 years.
The emperor was so hard-pressed by poverty that he was compelled to sell his calligraphical works.
