Career
Professor at the Central University of Venezuela, Caracas, teaching private international law (1956-1996); has taught that same course at Andrés Bello Catholic University in Caracas (1957-1996). Member of the Permanent Court of Arbitration (since 1985).He served as a Professor at the Hague Academy of International Law in 1988. Author of the following books: Die Regel “Locus Regit Actum” und die Formen der Testamente; Codificación del Derecho Internacional Privado en América, Vol. I and II; La Nacionalidad Venezolana: I. Antecedentes Históricos; La Influencia del Matrimonio sobre la Nacionalidad de la Mujer en la Legislación Venezolana; Curso General de Derecho Internacional Privado. Problemas Selectos y Otros Estudios, Tercera Edición; Estudios de Derecho Mercantil Internacional; El Régimen de los Bienes en el Matrimonio en el Derecho Internacional Privado Venezolano. Has further published numerous articles on the law of nationality, private international law and international civil procedural law in Venezuelan and foreign journals. A judge at the International Court of Justice of the United Nations in The Hague, Netherlands since 28 February 1996.
