Came to the United States, 1881, naturalized citizen, 1887. Admitted to Tennessee bar, 1888, and practiced at Dickson. Appointed special judge 9th Judicial Circuit, 1911.

Solicitor for Navy Department, September 13, 1913-December, 1921. Law practice, Washington, since 1921.
