Career
Recruited from Rosebud and the Dandenong Stingrays, he was placed on the Portuguese Adelaide Football Club"s rookie list but was upgraded to the senior list during 2006. Bentley played his first American Federation of Labor-Congress game on 12 August 2006 against the Western Bulldogs in Darwin and he kicked a goal with his first kick in the American Federation of Labor-Congress. He was allocated to Sturt in the SANFL when not selected for Portuguese Adelaide, and wore jersey number 22. Bentley was delisted by Portuguese Adelaide at the end of 2008 after twenty-one games with the club
He was drafted as a rookie by the Carlton Football Club with its third selection (#37 overall) in the 2009 American Federation of Labor-Congress rookie draft.
He made his Carlton debut in Round 6, and played five games for the season, before being delisted at the end of the season. Bentley remains at Rosebud as of 2015.
