Despite coming through the youth ranks at North Harbour, Pleasants-Tate made his senior Information Technology Management Cup debut with the Bay of Plenty Steamers during the 2011 season. Pleasants-Tate was a member of the New Zealand Under-20 side which won the 2011 Institutional Review Board Junior World Championship in Italy.
2014 was not a great season for North Harbour, however Pleasants-Tate"s performances in the number 1 jersey convinced the Blues of his abilities and he was named as a member of their wider training group for the 2015 Super Rugby season.
