Career
In 1631 he inherited a peerage. He was re-elected Member of Parliament for Warwick in 1621. He inherited the title 7th Baron Willoughby de Broke and 15th Baron Latimer on the death of his mother in 1631.
He was appointed High Sheriff of Warwickshire for 1635.
On 13 May 1618 Verney married Catherine Southwell, daughter of Sir Richard Southwell.
