1911 graduate Medical Faculty, Yur’yev (Tartu) University.
After graduate worked at Obukhov Hospital, Saint St. Petersburg and qualified as an otolaryngologist at the Institute of Postgraduate Medical Training. 1914-1922 on military service. 1923-1931 associate, Professor V. I. Voyachek’s Ear, Nose and Throat Clinic, Leningrad Military Medical Academy.
1931-1934 associate, Leningrad Practical Sciences Institute of Ear, Nose and Throat Diseases and Speech Defects. 1934-1940 assistant professor, Chair of Otolaryngology, 3rd Leningrad Medical Institute. 1937 defended candidate thesis.
1940-1943 assistant professor, 1943-1952 associate professor and deputy head of a chair, Naval Medical Institute. 1943 defended doctor’s thesis on ”Electroacoumetry in Clinical Practice”. 1952-1966 head, Acoustics Laboratory, Leningrad Research Institute of Ear, Nose and Throat Diseases and Speech Defects.
As a specialist in deafmutism also acquired fame outside the Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics. Was one of first Soviet sci to advocate and apply audiometric methods to the study of the auditory’ faculty. Trained numerous specialists in deafmutism, a discipline in which he propagated the physiological theories of his teacher V. A. Voyachek.
Devised widely-used table for locating defects of the sound analyzer at various levels. Active member, Leningrad Sciences Social of Otolaryngologists. Wrote over 50 works.
