Grigory Petrovich was first published in 1880 on the pages of humorous magazines ("Zanoza" (Thorn), "Nablyudatel" (Observer), "Oskolki" (Shatters), "Razvlechenie" (Entertainment), "Shut" (Harlequin) and others).
In the notes, feuilletons, essays, and stories of Grigory Petrovich satirically ridiculed the improper fraud and corruption of those in power, vulgarity, philistine, flattery and despotism. Most actively throughout his life he collaborated in the "Budilnik" (Alarm Clock), where he was nicknamed Alter Pater. According to S.A. Vengerov, Alterzon's poem"Bread and Circuses" was very popular among provincial reading actors.
