Career
He was an ardent Roman Catholic. Robert became archdeacon of Anglesey in 1558, but went into exile after the accession of Elizabeth I of England. By 1564 he was in Rome.
Later in the 1580s he is thought to have been in Milan assisting Cardinal Borromeo.
