Guido Corallo is an Italian Physician, Ophthalmologist, writer, essayist. He is the Author of two scientific textbooks about Perimetry (the science investigating the Visual Field), addressed to Ophthalmology residents and Orthoptic Assistants. He is also the Author of eleven books, that are mainly centred on philosophical investigation. Four writings of Guido Corallo received an award on the occasion of some literary-philosophical prizes.
Background
Guido Corallo was born on February 25, 1952, in Lecce, Puglia, Italy. Son of Italo and Antonietta (Mansullo) Corallo. At age of two he moved to Genoa, Liguria, Italy, where he spent most of his life, with the exception of two short periods (Mantova, Lombardia, Italy, 1963-66; Bologna, Emilia-Romagna, Italy, 1966-1969). He is married with Anna Maria Graffigna, born on December 14, 1963, in Chiavari, Liguria, Italy.
Education
In 1971 Guido Corallo achieved the certificate of classical maturity at the "Liceo-Ginnasio Andrea D'Oria", in Genoa (Italy). In 1977 he graduated in Medicine at the University of Genoa. In 1981 he achieved a specialisation in Ophthalmology and in 1984 a specialisation in Ophthalmic Surgery (both at the University of Genoa).
Career
Guido Corallo was Assistant Professor at the Department of Neurosciences, Ophthalmology and Genetics (DINOG), University of Genoa, from 1990 to 2012. His scientific interests were addressed particularly to glaucoma and visual field investigation. For many years he was a member of the executive board of the Italian Perimetry Society and also a member of the International Perimetry and Imaging Society. Guido Corallo is the Author of two Perimetry textbooks, which have been considered a point of reference for Italian Ophthalmology residents and for Orthoptic Assistants.
