Asaris, Gunars was born on June 23, 1934 in Riga, Latvia. Son of Konstantins and Hilda (Vassermane) Asaris.

Architect Architects Office, Riga, 1959-1961, city chief architects assistant, 1962-1971, city chief architect, since 1971. Academician The Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics Art Academy, 1988-1990. Lecturer Riga Technology University, 1980-1991, professor, since 1991.

President Latvian Architects Union, Riga, 1979-1989.
