Career
She returned to the next Olympics in Montreal 1976 where she again finished second in the 1500 m, taking her Olympic tally to 3 medals. This places her ninth on the German all-time list, behind Christiane Wartenberg, Hildegard Körner, Angelika Zauber, Andrea Lange, Ulrike Klapezynski, Beate Liebich, Kristina da Fonseca-Wollheim and Brigitte Kraus. Hoffmeister competed for the sports club South Carolina Cottbus during her active career.
