(Howard Hughes, who suffers from germophobia and psycholog...)
Howard Hughes, who suffers from germophobia and psychological illness, tries to design and promote a new aircraft. Along the way, he faces personal issues but becomes a successful film-maker.
Gwen Stefani is an American singer, songwriter who first gained popularity in the 1990s as the lead singer of No Doubt. Their most successful singles are "Just a Girl," "Spiderwebs," and "Don't Speak." She went on to have a highly successful solo career and launch her own clothing line, L.A.M.B. She released more music as a solo artist and served as a coach for multiple seasons of the singing competition series The Voice.
Background
Ethnicity:
Gwen's father is Italian American and her mother is of Irish and Scottish descent
Gwen Stefani, born Gwen Renee Stefani, was born on October 3, 1969 at St. Jude's Hospital in Fullerton, California. She was one of four children born to Dennis Stefani and Patti Flynn. Her father worked as a Yamaha marketing executive. Her mother, Patti worked as an accountant before becoming a housewife. From an early age, she was exposed to folk music due to her parents' liking towards this music. Gwen has one sister named Jill and two brothers known as Eric and Todd.
Education
Gwen attended Loara High School in Anaheim, California, and was dyslexic. Throughout her high school she was listed as one of the swimming team members because she was chubby. Gwen made her onstage debut during a talent show at Loara High School to sing "I Have Confidence," from The Sound of Music.
She graduated from high school in 1987 and began attending Fullerton College before transferring to California State University, Fullerton. She took on a variety of service jobs, including a spell cleaning floors at a fast-food restaurant. Then, she had started providing vocals for her brother, Eric's band, No doubt.
Gwen Stefani got her earliest job scrubbing floors at a Dairy Queen and working at a local department store. Her singing career began in 1986 when her brother Eric along with his friend John Spence founded No Doubt. Eric who used to be the keyboardist for No Doubt then left the band to pursue his animation career on "The Simpson," while Gwen became the band's lead singer after its original frontman, John Spence, committed suicide in December 1987. It required hard work from all the band members who during the three years long to produce their third album almost split up. Yet, they could stand still and finally outed its third album titled 'Tragic Kingdom' in 1995, which spawned several hits began with single "Just a Girl."
Following the success of the 'Tragic Kingdom,' Gwen became more popular and recognizable. The same hold true with the band success video for the song "Don't Speak" included in the same album, which many of its songs were inspired by Gwen's relationship and break up with fellow band member Tony Kanal whom she dated with for eight years but had to end it up because Kanal needed more space for himself. Facing separation with the person she loved very much had driven Gwen into a depression and it tortured her even more after the tiring tour for the 'Tragic Kingdom' album.
Beyond her activity as No Doubt frontwoman, Gwen is known for her solo career too. She once became very famous for a pair of popular 2001 duets, both with techno artist Moby that produced the "Southside" and with rapper Eve that produced "Let Me Blow Ya Mind," for all of which she has become the first artist in history to win both Best Male Video and Best Female Video awards at the 2001 MTV VMAs.
After that Gwen recorded her first solo album entitled 'Love.Angel.Music.Baby,' released in America on November 23, 2004, and was widely recognized for its first single "What You Waiting For?" which successfully debuted at #1 on the Australian ARIAnet singles chart and #4 on the United Kingdom chart. Greater than that, the set's other single "Hollaback Girl" also helped catapult the album sales to 350,000 copies in its first week, as it gloriously topped the United States Pop 100 charts for four consecutive weeks, leading the album to also be certified platinum with 1,000,000 copies sold out after four weeks of sales. She founded her own fashion line in 2004 called L.A.M.B (Love Angel Music Baby), an acronym of her debut solo album, which manufactures apparel and fashion accessories and a fragrance called "L.," and later another called Harajuku Lovers.
She made her acting debut playing Jean Harlow in Martin Scorsese's 'The Aviator' in 2004 and was nominated for the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture.
Subsequently worked on her second effort, "The Sweet Escape" was released on December 4, 2006, outside North America and in Canada, Mexico, and the United States by the next day. For the set, dubbed "The Sweet Escape," Gwen collaborated with Tony Kanal, Linda Perry, and The Neptunes on some tracks and also worked with Akon and Tim Rice-Oxley. The first single released from the album was the lead track "Wind It Up," which Gwen premiered on her Harajuku Lovers Tour in 2005. Thanks to this song that the LP sold 243,000 copies during its first week on sale in the United States, while at the same time debuted at number 3 on the Billboard 200, and a further 149,000 copies were shifted during week two. Two more singles were out from the album and gained an equal success to the first. Title-track "The Sweet Escape" and "4 am in the Morning" were released on the street and boosted the sale of the album that reached 2 million-plus worldwide.
While Stefani promoted "The Sweet Escape," No Doubt began to work on a new album without her and planned to complete it after her "The Sweet Escape Tour" was finished. A few things, including Stefani's second pregnancy, slowed down the songwriting and recording process. The group continued to work on the album while embarking on the tour. Initially set for release in 2010, the record titled "Push and Shove" finally came out in 2012. In October 2013, the band once again went on hiatus but hinted that they would regroup in 2014.
That year, Stefani shifted her focus back to her solo career. In April, she joined "The Voice" as a coach, temporarily replacing Christina Aguilera. Later in the year, she said she was simultaneously working on a No Doubt album and a solo album. She reteamed with longtime collaborator and fellow "The Voice" coach Pharrell Williams for her solo project, which she previewed with "Baby Don't Lie" and "Spark the Fire."
She then delivered her second album in as many years in October 2017, the holiday-themed "You Make It Feel Like Christmas."
The following summer, Stefani kicked off a residency at Planet Hollywood's Zappos Theater in Las Vegas, her "Just a Girl" show featuring her greatest hits from her time with No Doubt and as a solo artist.
Gwen Stefani took the Padang Stage on September 21, 2019 for the Formula 1 Singapore Airlines Singapore Grand Prix 2019.
Stefani was raised in a devoutly Catholic household and it seems to have had a profound effect on her. When discussing how she came to develop her now-famous style, she admitted difficulties with perceived contradictions with her faith, saying:
"I always had the pressure of 'You've got to be a feminist and you've got to hate guys. And you've got to cuss and be tough.' And I was never like that. I grew up, like, a Catholic good girl. Total Brady Bunch family... But I kind of got over that and realized that, yes, I love to dress up and I love to wear makeup and be myself."
Stefani credits her religious faith and a recent spiritual rebirth for allowing her to love again. "At the time when it was going down, never in my wildest dreams would I ever imagine the miracle that happened to me," she says. "Some people don't like to hear this, but for me it was a spiritual intervention. It was a true miracle. I think the only way I got through all the hard times is just my spiritual faith and my belief in God because I've just seen the miracles around me."
Politics
Stefani is a Democrat. She's not the most political rock star around, but she's paid her dues to Obama, most notably during his 2012 re-election campaign.
Stefani hosted an Obama fundraiser at her house in Beverly Hills. The event was attended by first lady Michelle Obama and was billed as a children’s event featuring balloon animals, face painting, and moms with their kids. Oh, and it cost anywhere between $2,500 and $25,000 to get in.
Stefani tweeted before the event: "Getting ready for Michelle Obama to come for a playdate."
Views
Stefani stands strong on the liberal front. She designed a pair of children's t-shirts with messages supporting same-sex marriage. Department store Target picked up the controversial line and sold it at their stores. 100% of profits from the shirts goes to an organization promoting marriage equality called the Family Equality Council.
In 2011, she donated $1 million to Save the Children's Japan Earthquake - Tsunami Children in Emergency Fund, and ran an auction on eBay of vintage clothing, designed and signed by her, from her personal wardrobe.

"People might think you can turn creativity on and off, but it’s not like that. It just kind of comes out. A mash-up of all these things you collect in your mind. You never know when it’s gonna happen, but when it does... it’s like magic. It’s just that simple and it’s just that hard."
"I've never been good at giving advice. The only advice I ever gave people was to find something that you are passionate about. But I hate giving advice, because, who am I? I’m just a girl."
Personality
Gwen is dyslexic. Despite her issues with reading, she has gone on to have great success and pushed through her struggles. According to Learning Success Blog, when she was younger, she looked for other avenues like singing and sewing to help express herself.
Gwen has been described as possessing a unique vocal prowess which 'The Chicago Tribune' describes as a 'brash alto.' She has been referred to as "the new Madonna" by publications such as 'The Hollywood Reporter' and 'People.' Her red lips, platinum blond hair, and dark eyes make her very attractive, and her natural good look is enhanced by her stylish dress sense.
Over the years, Gwen has been accused of cultural appropriation because of the bindi she used to wear during the early days of the band. However, she told Vogue it was inspired by the culture of her boyfriend at the time, Tony Kanal. Kanal has an Indian background and his mom introduced Gwen to their fashion. It became her signature look throughout the '90s along with her red lipstick.
Gwen may have already been considered a fashion icon by the time the new Millenium had hit. However, she had never had a stylist until the early 2000s. The "Early Winter" songstress explained that she worked with Andrea Lieberman for the first time when shooting the music video for her collaboration with Eve, "Let Me Blow Ya Mind." Gwen's style had become more glam and she admitted that Andrea was her soulmate when it came to fashion.
Hollaback Girl" is one of Gwen's biggest hits and remains an iconic 2000s bop. The song came about after Courtney Love dissed her in Seventeen magazine. The former Hole frontwoman claimed that Gwen wasn't a rockstar and that she's "just a cheerleader." Gwen fired back with the feisty anthem which became her first solo No. 1 single. She dressed up as a cheerleader in the video and proved that she can be a cheerleader with rockstar energy.

Connections
Gwen started dating singer Tony Kanal in 1987 secretly. When Tony's band No Doubt performed in 1987, they met and she tried to kiss him when the two of these were on a walk. The other band members were against the relationship as they treated Gwen as their sister, but Tony gave the relationship a shot. Gwen wanted to have a baby with him. The duo split in 1993 when No Doubt was working on their third studio album. Most of the songs on No Doubt's "Tragic Kingdom" CD are about their break-up.
Gwen married Gavin Rossdale in a lavish ceremony in London on September 14, 2002, wearing a white-and-pink gown designed by John Galliano. Two other celebrations were held, including one in Los Angeles.
Stefani and Rossdale welcomed son Kingston James McGregor Rossdale on May 26, 2006. Their second son, Zuma Nesta Rock, was born on August 21, 2008, and their third son, Apollo Bowie Flynn Rossdale, was born on February 28, 2014.
In August 2015, after more than a dozen years together, Stefani and Rossdale called it quits and announced they were divorcing. In November 2015, Stefani and fellow Voice coach Blake Shelton went public with their relationship.
