Education
Studied under Ensho of the Todaiji Temple in Nara, succeeded him as chief priest of the Kaidan-in, a branch of the Todaiji Temple. He studied particularly Avatamuska Sutra as a Kegon Sect priest but was well versed in the doctrines of other sects as well.
