Appointed Resident of Province Clarke and member of the Legislative Council. Resigned appointment, December 1904.
Appointed European Adviser to the Pangeran of Lawas (Borneo), 1904, retiring from position and receiving compensation through Foreign Office when Lawas was taken over by the Rajah of Sarawak, 1905. Now interested in rubber planting in the Malay States.
