He was ordained an elder in the church by Gordon B. Hinckley, who was then an Assistant to the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles. Later, he was the first regional representative in of Korea and the first native Korean mission president to oversee a church mission in of Korea. Han served in this capacity until October 1996 when he was honorably released.
He then became president of the Seoul of Korea Temple.
Membership
In 1991, Han was called as a general authority and member of the Second Quorum of the Seventy.
