She attended Ashiya Girls High School.
Joined the Takarazuka Opera Company and made her stage debut as Otsu in "Spring Dance." Followed up her initial success by playing the lead in such dramas as "Adventures of a Honey Bee", Oshokun and Sarutobi Sasuke. Has also appeared on the screen. Played in the joint Halo-Japanese film production of "Madame Butterfly" (1954). Specializes in impersonating males on the stage.
She has been married to Tadao Takashima since 1963. They have three children.
