After graduating from Tokyo University joined the editorial staff of Yomiuri Shim-bun. Left this to devote full time to conduct research on social thought and its interpretation in the form of reviews. He was a professor at Tokyo Kyoiku (Education) University. Among his works are "Japanese Fascism", "History of Nationalistic Movements in Japan" and "Handbook of the New Times."
