Studied at Marlborough College, 1848-1851. Cheltenham College, 1851-1856. Pembroke College, Cambridge, 1856-1859.
1st class Poll Degree, 1859. Select Preacher before the University, 1896. As champion gymnast had a heavy fall at opening of second session in Cambridge, which compelled three years to be spent on his back.
All examinations had to be passed (both for degree and ordination) in a recumbent position.
Reading was practically forbidden. Prebendary of Saint Paul’s Cathedral since 1893. Vicar of Saint Paul’s, Onslow Square, since 1876.
