Education
He attended Mengo Primary School. He studied at Mengo Senior Secondary School, for his O-Level education. He then attended Kololo Senior Secondary School for his A-Level studies.
In 1975, he entered National Teachers College Kyambogo (NTCK), to study for the two-year Diploma in The diploma was awarded by Makerere University.
However, in 2001, NTCK, was amalgamated with other institutions to form Kyambogo University.
Hannington Sengendo also holds a Bachelor of Arts (Bachelor), degree from Makerere University and the degree of Master of Arts in Human Geography (Master of Arts), obtained in 1987, from the University of Leeds. His degree of Doctorate in Urban Planning (Doctor of Philosophy), was obtained in 1992, from the University of Nottingham.
Career
Currently, he is the Vice Chancellor of Nkumba University, a private University in Uganda, which was accredited by the Uganda National Council for Higher (UNCHE), in 1999. He was installed in that position on Friday 21 June 2013. His long service at Makerere University, included as Head of the Geography Department from 1994 until 2000.
Later, he served as the Dean of the Faculty of Arts at the university.
He then moved to Nkumba University, serving there as the Deputy Vice Chancellor, before he was appointed Vice Chancellor. Professor Hannington Sengendo is a married father.
He is of the Christian faith.
