Career
He competed in the 1928 Winter Olympics and in the 1932 Winter Olympics. In 1928 he finished 17th in the 18 km cross-country skiing event as well as 17th in the Nordic combined competition. Four years later he finished 29th in the shorter cross-country skiing event.
In the ski jumping competition he finished 25th and in the Nordic combined event he finished 18th.
Paumgarten died in an avalanche.
