Achievements

  • Achievements include contributions to advanced genetic, cytogenetic and evolutionary knowledge about, and utilization of related species of small grains. Identification of unique and desperately needed sources of new genes for biotic stresses and nutritional quality. Production of wide (intergenetic) hybrids (and their derivatives) between wheat and five species of wheatgrasses for the first time.

    Development of barley yellow dwarf virus resistant wheat germplasm. More than 40 publications in refereed journals. Continuing work in gene transfer and detection of introgression through development and utilization of cytogenetic and molecular technologies.
