He played for the Washington Senators from 1928 to 1930 and the Cleveland Indians in 1933. He played college baseball for Louisiana Technology He was inducted into the Louisiana Technical University Athletic Hall of Fame in 1989.
Harley Boss settled in Nashville Tennessee and was in the insurance business.
He was the head coach of the Vanderbilt University varsity baseball team for the 1960, 1961, 1963, and 1964 seasons. He was a knowledgeable and colorful manager.
He was "old school" in the mode of Casey Stengel. He died shortly after the end of the 1964 season.
