Career
A 6"5" (196 m) guard from Morehouse College, Ellis was never drafted by an National Basketball Association team but did manage to play in 3 National Basketball Association seasons. Following a two season stint with the Quad City Thunder of the Continental Basketball Association, Ellis played for the Los Angeles Clippers from 1993-1995. He then moved to Europe and the Greek league to play for Aris British Columbia during 1995-1996 and Apollon Patras British Columbia during 1996-1997.
He then returned to the National Basketball Association to play for the Denver Nuggets during the 1997-1998 season.
In his National Basketball Association career, Ellis played in 145 games and scored a total of 840 points. Ellis was a minor league coordinator/scout for the Atlanta Hawks for six seasons, before his hiring on June 23, 2008 as an assistant coach to newly hired Detroit Pistons head coach Michael Curry.
From 2009 to 2012, he was a scout for the Pistons. In 2012, Ellis was named director of pro scouting for the Orlando Magic.
