Wheeler, Harris Ansel was born on July 30, 1850 in at Orrington, Maine, United States. Son of John D. and Sarah J. Wheeler.

Education

Educated in public schools until 16 years old.

Career

Clerk Bangor, Maine, and Detroit, 1866-1871. Appointed Second lieutenant United States of America, 1872, resigned 1874. Financial management of the Michigan Military Academy, Orchard Lake, Michigan, 1878 80.

President Orchard Lake (Michigan) Military Academy, several years from 1902.

Invented the Wheeler coach and car seats. Organized and president Northwestern Expanded Metal Company A.-daughter-c. on staffs of governments Cullom and Hamilton, 1881-1884.

Later colonel 2d Regiment, Illinois National Guard, until 1890. Brigade-general commanding 1st Brigade, Illinois National Guard, 1893-1898 (resigned).

Now Grand Recorder Grand Commandery of Knight of the Order of the Thistle of Illinois.
