A Republican, he also served as a city commissioner. In 1914, Bacharach was tried for election fraud in the 1910 mayoral election. He died in 1947 in Atlantic City.
The Bacharach Giants, a Negro League baseball team that played in Atlantic City, was named for him.
The home cared for children afflicted with infantile paralysis. The building at 2305 Atlantic Avenue, Longport, New Jersey, became the borough hall in 1990.
Bacharach was played by actor John Rue in the Home Box Office Television series Boardwalk Empire.
