Harry W. J. Edbrooke was born in 1873 in Chicago, Illinois, United States, into a family of architects.
He attended the city schools of Chicago and mastered the rudiments of architecture at Armour Institute.
For a number of years he continued his training and acquired practical experience while employed as draftsman in the office of William K. Fellows, and in a later period worked with Howard Van Doren Shaw.
Presumably Mr. Edbrooke left for the west about the turn of the century, and some time later established an architectural office in Denver. The first buildings he designed were erected in 1910, and included the Frst National Bank Building and the Gas & Electric Company Building. Later works which are credited to him were the State Museum in Denver, the W. W. Kistler Building (1918) and the Denver Post Building, also a Theatre in Ogden, Utah.
